Salem Mayor Nic Farley says plans are underway on how the city can best use its allotment of funds under the federal American Recovery Act.
He updated the city council Monday night.
“We will be getting a little over $900,000 from the American Recovery Act to put towards specific projects. One of the things that we will be looking at is all the ways that we can legally spend that money. The Department Heads came up with a bunch of good ideas and made recommendation that we put investment back in our new water line. So they are getting cost estimates to see what that would look like.”
The main water line brings water from Carlyle Lake to the Salem Reservoir during dry periods.
Farley also announced the Salem Department of Emergency Management Services is once again certified by the state and will be eligible for grant funding to continue its operations to assist other city departments in emergencies.
