Marion County Demolition Derby a sellout, while large crowd fills midway Friday night

The Marion County Demolition Derby was a sellout Friday night with a large crowd also in the pits making it one of the biggest crowds in memory at the fairgrounds.

The drivers didn’t disappoint, putting on a four-hour show.

The winner of the Demo Derby Stock Class was Roger Hunter of Iuka, who was also named Best of Show.  The second-place finisher in the Derby Class was Tyson Minor of Odin, third was Kyle Simonton of Odin, and fourth was Cody Simonton of Odin.

In the Compact Class, Jeremy Patten of Walnut Hill was first, Justin Patten of Sandoval second, Zachary Rowcliff of Odin third, and Clifford Rowcliff of Centralia fourth.

The young kids started out the evening in the Hemi Motorsports Power Wheels.  There were about 40 participants from 13 different communities.   The first-place finisher was Lane Gable of Patoka.  Avery Arnold of Sandoval was second, Bailey Patton of Salem third, and Braxton Finley of Salem fourth.

The Marion County Fair concludes on Saturday with the Grand Nationals Event NTPA Tractor Pull at seven pm.   There will be Pro Stock, Super Stock, Diesel, 4×4, and Light Unlimited.   Plenty of tickets remain.  Reserved Seats and Pit Passes are $20 and General Admission is $15.  It is also the final night for the operation of the carnival and midway.   There will be an armband night from six to ten pm where you can ride all the rides you with for $20.
