State still set to fully reopen June 11th, only 28-percent of Marion County residents vaccinated

With COVID-19 numbers declining, Governor JB Pritzker confirms that the state is about to open back up.

At a press conference, Governor Pritzker was asked if Illinois is ready for Phase Five.

“We are.  In fact, it is scheduled for June 11th,” said Pritzker.

Just 401 new cases were reported statewide on Tuesday and only 521 cases on Monday.   There were 33 additional deaths on Monday and eight on Tuesday.  All were in the Chicago area.

The statewide seven-day positivity rate has dropped to 1.6-percent.  In Marion County, the rate is just .5-percent.   While the number fully vaccinated statewide has increased to 51-percent, it is under 28-percent in Marion County.

The Marion County Health Department is reporting seven new cases of COVID-19 over the past five days.  None were long-term care residents or students.  Four are considered community spread and three are considered to be from household or close contacts.  There are now nine active cases in the county, including one who is hospitalized.  15 have recovered and been released from isolation in the past five days.

In its weekly report for May 22nd to the 28th, nine new positive cases are reported in Clinton County.  Five are on home isolation and one is hospitalized.

Four new cases have been reported Saturday through Tuesday in Jefferson County, with five currently in isolation.

Washington County is reporting one new case over the long Memorial Day weekend and Tuesday.    There are currently two active cases.

Fayette County is reporting six new cases during the week ending Tuesday, including one in a long-term care facility.

The Wayne County Health Department has not reported a new COVID-19 case from May 28th through May 31st.
