Saturday was opening day at the Salem Little League Complex.
In Majors, the Rotary Reds defeated IGA 15-4 outhitting them 14-2. Landon Maxey was the winning pitcher striking out 10 and allowing 2 hits. At the plate, he added 3 hits including a double. Also for the Reds, Max Vincent doubled, Riley Tate added 2 hits including a double, Brendan Smith added 3 hits, Kyler King and Jaret Gibson had 2 hits each, Ty Johnson had a hit and Madden Thompson walked and scored. For IGA, Brad Thompson and Zane Dodson had hits.
Lions beat Americana 6-4. Evan Barnes went 4 strong innings striking out 10 and giving up one hit to claim the win. Logan Butts closed out the game striking out 5 in the final 2 innings. He also went 3-4 with 2 RBI and 2 runs scored. Hunter Janicki and Damon Jennings each had a hit and run while Caleb Squibb had a hit and drove in a run. In the loss, Jaxon Ward went 4 innings and struck out 9. Silas Lux worked in relief and k’d 3. Walker Carnk had 2 hits, stole a base and drove in a run, Nicholi Marhanka added a hit, 2 walks and stole a base and Keyton Grawe added 2 hits.
In Minors, Edwards Jones shutout Security Alarm 8-0. In the win, Owen Tennyson had 2 hits and pitched 3 innings for the win. The final out was earned as catcher by throwing out a would be base stealer. Tripp Garden and Emmit Gibson both had 2 hits each. Kam Rasul had a hit and both he and matthew Blackburn scored a run. Rasul finished the last 2 innings on the mound. For Security Alarm, Drew Consolino and Trigg Aaron both had hits.
In Coach Pitch, Boulder Chevy beat Jeff Dunahee Realty 15-5. Kobe Sheehan had 5 hits and 3 runs, Mason Dice 4 hits 4 runs, Caleb Dice 3 hits and 5 RBI, Lucas Howe and Izaac Holsapple 3 hits and 3 runs, Lewis Eddy 3 hits and 2 runs with Logan Howe adding 2 hits and 2 RBI.
The T-ball season also opened up for Peoples State Bank. In their game Maddox Smith, Carter Smith and Gabe Schleuter were the hitting stars with Levi Knapp and Reed Knapp keying the defense and made several big defensive plays to lead Peoples.
In softball play, Dairy Queen beat Modern Woodman 14-4. Alana Howe got 5 hits, Breanna Pennypacker had 5 hits. Grace Raue and Kinley Gansauer 4 hits each. Abbie Haineshad 2 hits with Mckinleigh Parker adding 3 hits.
