Marion County records 16 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday

The Marion County Health Department is reporting 16 new positive COVID-19 cases on Tuesday.  However, only two are considered community spread with the other 14 the result of household or close contacts.   None of the new cases involved students or long-term care residents.

There are now 20 active cases in Marion County.  Three of those are hospitalized and one on a ventilator.  Ten were released from isolation on Tuesday.   Marion County has now had 4,300 positive cases since the pandemic began.   There have been 115 deaths.

Clinton County is reporting four new cases and twenty currently in isolation. Jefferson County is reporting two new cases and 18 currently on isolation.  The Washington County Health Department is reporting one new case Sunday through Tuesday.

Statewide, there were 2.404 new cases of COVID-19 and 17 additional deaths.   One of the deaths was in Wayne County, a male in his 70s.

The Statewide seven-day positivity rate has increased to 3.4-percent.  Another 86,612 vaccines were administered on Monday bringing the total to date in Illinois to 5,664,426.
