Nearly 10-percent of Marion County residents now fully vaccinated

The Illinois Department of Public Health is reporting the record for number of COVID-19 vaccines administered in a single day has been broken again.  152,697 doses were given on Friday.   That brings the total number of vaccines administered to 3,943,970.

In Marion County, 9,773 vaccine doses have been administered.  3,698 are now fully vaccinated, which translates into 9.83-percent of the county’s population.

The state is reporting 1,675 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 on Saturday as well as 23 additional deaths.   None of the deaths were in South Central Illinois.  Three were in Madison County in the Metro-East.

The seven-day statewide positivity rate dropped to 2.1-percent.    Marion County’s positivity rate is at seven-tenths of a percent.
