COVID-19 related death reported in Washington County

The Illinois Department of Public Health has reported a COVID-19 related death in Washington County.  A man in his 50s is among 39 deaths being reported around the state on Friday.   Other Southern Illinois deaths were in Clark, Madison, Massac, Saline, St. Clair, and Williamson Counties.

There were 1,763 new COVID-19 cases reported on Friday.   The seven-day positivity rate increased to a tenth of a percent to 2.3-percent.

The Marion County Health Department did not release a report on new local cases on Friday.

The Clinton County Health Department reported five new positives.  38 are currently on isolation and two are hospitalized.

Jefferson County reported two new cases and 21 currently in isolation.

The Washington County Health Department is reporting eight new cases over the past four days.  There are only eight currently in isolation and no one hospitalized.

The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 110,570 doses were administered on Thursday, bringing the total number of vaccines administered to just under 3.8-million.  The state reports approximately 54-percent of those 65 years and older are now vaccinated in Illinois.
