Half of Illinoisans over 65 now have at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine; five new cases reported Tuesday in Marion County

The Illinois Department of Public Health is reporting that half of all Illinoisans 65 years and older have now received at least their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine.   Nearly 3.5-million vaccines have been received so far, including 75,372 delivered on Monday.

The Illinois Department of Public Health is reporting 1,510 new cases statewide on Tuesday and 16 additional deaths.  None of the deaths were in Southern Illinois.

The Marion County Health Department is reporting five new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday.    The department reports all five are community spread and none involve long-term care residents or students.

The health department is reporting just 18 active cases, eight of who are in the hospital.   The department has released another ten from isolation.

The Clinton County Health Department is reporting two new cases.  27 remain on home isolation and three are hospitalized.

No new cases were reported Tuesday in Jefferson County, with 18 remaining in isolation.   The Fayette County Health Department has now gone since Friday without a new case.  The Wayne County Health Department is reporting no new cases on Tuesday.   The Clay County Health Department is reporting two new cases on Monday.

The Statewide positivity rate is at 2.3-percent.
