Ricky Dean Dobyns, 53, of Odin passed away Wednesday, December 16, 2020 at Salem Township Hospital. Ricky was known to be a motorcycle enthusiast and loved the feel of the open air on his face while riding and enjoying beautiful scenery from this perspective. He was a diehard Pittsburgh Steelers fan and couldn’t contain his excitement when they would score a winning touchdown, celebrating every victory. Ricky found peace while spending time outdoors, and would grow excited for the thrill of the hunt. Whether it be deer season or mushroom season, Ricky would have success, carrying back an abundance of mushrooms or showing off the impressive antlers of a big buck. He liked to spend time fishing, appreciating the adventure of catching a fish that would put up a good fight. Ricky had legitimate cooking skills, grilling on the weekend, and using his talent for making an amazing breakfast spread to gather his family together. He knew the value of family time, and was also good at knowing how to balance times of solitude to refresh his spirit, allowing him to give more of himself to others. Ricky will be deeply missed by his family and friends, and they will continue to share memories of his life with others.

Survivors that will remember the special ways Ricky brought his family together include his devoted mother, Ann Dobyns and step-father, Syl Kachuba; loving children, sons, Ricky and wife Taylor, Joshua and husband Garrett, and Dalton, and daughter, Kacy; precious grandchildren, Grayson, and Kitt (KJ); siblings, brother, Randy, and sister, Sherri; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and cherished friends.
He was born on April 23, 1967 the son of Buck and Ann (Steele) Dobyns in Fort Benjamin Harrison, IN. Ricky was preceded in death by his father, Buck Dobyns.
