Today is the SIJHSAA State Cross Country meets for Class L and S that will be held at the DuQuoin State Fairgrounds without spectators. The Class S meet will get underway first and the finals have been split into 2 heats. The girls’ heats will be run at 9 and 9:45 with the boys to follow at 10:30 and 11:15.
Then Class L will take center stage with the girls running at 2 and 2:45 and the boys going at 3:30 and 4:15.
Franklin Park will be well represented in both the boys and girls races as they each advanced as a team through their own regional competition last week. The boys won their regional with a near perfect score of 17 and have high expectations despite being very young with just 2 8th graders on the roster. Caidien Beer and Cole Casburn lead the group with 7th graders Robbie Shober, Hunter Malan, Eli Baker and Caleb Purintun joined by lone 6th grader Payton Gullion. 6th grader Avery Gullion is the alternate runner.
The girls finished 2nd to Olney in regional competition. On the Lady Bobcats roster are Ella Robinson, Jordan Kessler, Allison Thurman, Kendall Zimmermann, Brianna Redenbo, Caitlynne Bryan, Finley Puricelli and Aila Laird.
In Class S competing today from Selmaville will be Maci Thorsen, Kyler Sapp and Kaden James.
