Salem Prepares For High School Cross Country Regionals At Highland On Saturday

The IHSA cross country post season starts tomorrow with regional competition.

Salem will compete in the 2a Highland Regional held at Alhambra Fireman and Legion Park.  Joining Salem and Highland will be Carbondale, Centralia, Columbia, East St Louis, Herrin, Marion, Mascoutah, Mt Vernon, Triad and Waterloo.  The top teams and individuals advance to the Olney Sectional next Saturday at Olney Central College.

Also trying to get to Olney are regionals in Taylorville and Jacksonville.

In 3a at Granite City Regional, it’s Alton, Belleville East & West, Collinsville, Edwardsville, Granite City, Normal West, Normal Community, O’Fallon, Pekin and Quincy.  Also hosting regionals that move into the Normal Sectional will be at Tinley Park Andrew and Minooka.

In Class A the Freeburg Regional will include Althoff, Breese Central, Mater Dei, Christ Our Rock, Freeburg and Wesclin among others.  The top qualifiers and teams move on to the Althoff Sectional to be held at Swansea Clinton Hill Conservation Park.

At Hamilton County, Nashville will run.  Also feeding into Althoff will be Marissa’s Regional.

Feeding into the Decatur St Teresa Sectional will be the Carlinville Regional which will include Altamont and Wood River.  Also Chrisman which includes St Anthony, Flora and North Clay.
