Centralia City Council looks to extend outdoor dining

By News Oct 12, 2020 | 8:33 AM

The Centralia City Council Tuesday night will be asked to extend outside dining options through the end of the year for restaurants due to continuing indoor dining limitations as a result of COVID-19.

The City Council initially approved the outdoor seating at bars and restaurants as part of the Restore Illinois Plan through the end of September. The city staff is recommending approval of the extension.

The council will also open bids for the former motel property at 404 North Poplar acquired by the city after they demolished the building.

The council will honor four employees for 20 years of service. They are Police Lieutenant Jamie James and patrolman Shawn Richards and William White along with firefighter Cory Kleiboeker.

The meeting begins at six Tuesday night via Zoom due to social distancing concerns at city hall. The meeting has been delayed a day due to the Columbus Day Holiday.
