Cars and Coffee attracts crowd of classic vehicles and people to First Baptist Church in Salem

The first ever Cars and Coffee at the First Baptist Church in Salem over the weekend drew a good crowd of both classic vehicles and those looking them over.

Dale Helpingstine organized the event.

“This is just something I thought we would try as an extension of our Summer Time Thursday Night Cruise ends.  Cars and Coffee is something that different cities around the country have so I thought we would try one here in Salem.  It’s been a real success with over 50 cars.”

Helpingstine says well over another 100 people came to look at the display of vehicles. While most came from Marion County, some traveled from as far away as Assumption, Flora, and Carlyle to be part of the show.

Helpingstine says he’ll look at doing the event on an annual and possibly even a monthly basis.

The First Baptist Church provided the coffee and donuts. There was also a DJ and BBQ available for sale.
