Jerry F. Panzier, 80, of Waltonville, Illinois, passed away at 6:43 am August 13, 2021, at his residence with his family by his side.
Jerry retired as a steelworker after many dedicated years at the steel mill. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, and enjoyed woodworking. He also found time to sit down and quilt with his wife. Jerry was a loving family man and will be greatly missed.
A Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 17, 2021, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon. A Funeral Service will begin at 11:00 am with Reverend Curtis Sweeney officiating. Interment will take place at Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens in Woodlawn, Illinois. He was born November 19, 1940, in Jefferson County, Illinois to the late Virgil and Hazel (Mazo) Panzier. Jerry married Margaret (Smith) Panzier on May 17, 1983, in Edwardsville, Illinois. They were blessed with nearly 36 years of marriage before she preceded him in death on April 26, 2019.
Jerry is survived by his children, Loretta Hausman and husband, Wendell of Waltonville, Jennifer Hormann and husband, Lenny of Alton, Illinois, Julie Newell and husband, Richard of Alton, Donald Roberts of Mount Vernon, IL, Paul Roberts of Mount Vernon, and Jerry Panzier II of Carlinville, Illinois; nine grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren; brother, Ray Panzier and wife, Margie of Waltonville; and three nephews and two nieces.
In addition to his parents and beloved wife, Jerry was preceded in death by two grandsons; and a sister, Connie Heppe.
