2021 08/11 – Ida Mae Jackson

Ida Mae Jackson, 95, of Dix, passed away on August 6, 2021, at SSM Health DePaul Hospital, in St. Louis.

 Mrs. Jackson graduated from Mt. Vernon Township High School and School of Practical Nursing.  She retired after 20 years of General Nursing from Good Samaritan Hospital.  She also worked as a Foster Grandparent (One Hope United) at Field School for many years.  She was a homemaker and worked the family farm with her husband.  She was a member of Union Chapel Methodist Church, UMW, and HCE.  She was honored as a Jefferson County Senior Saint, and was just recognized as the 2021 Illinois State 4-H Family Spirit Award Winner.

Celebration of Ida Mae’s life will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 11, 2021, at Union Chapel United Methodist Church, in Texico, with Pastor Bud Storey officiating.  Interment will follow at Union Chapel Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 11:30 a.m. until the hour of service, Wednesday, at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Union Chapel Cemetery or a charity of the donor’s choice and will be accepted at the service, or by mail to the Osborn Funeral Home, P.O. Ida Mae, an only child, was born on August 4, 1926, in Texico, the daughter of William and Lila (Robertson) Riggs.  She married Henry Wade Jackson on June 1, 1947, at Union Chapel Church, and he preceded her in death.

Mrs. Jackson is survived by her daughters, Sarah Mae Waite and husband Michael of Texico, Mary Ann Dagg and husband Dennis of Texico, and Wilda Sue Eade and husband Michael of Berthoud, Colorado;  nine grandchildren: four of whom were raised in the home of Mrs. Jackson, Chris Schrum and husband Chad, Sue Ann McRae and husband Jason, Cheyenne Jackson and Cristy, Edwin Jackson, Stacy Dagg, Dustin Dagg, Logan Waite and wife India, Amanda Eade and Zach Watkins, Eric Eade and wife Jillian;  seven great-grandchildren, Jacob, Olivia, and Jayda Schrum, Isabella and Thomas McRae, William Jackson, and Jozi Jackson.

She was preceded in death by her husband (October 10, 1998), her parents, and her son, William Henry (December 3, 1986).
