Kevin Lee McCrary, 57, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 9:46 pm July 8, 2021, at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. Mr. McCrary enjoyed deer and duck hunting. He had a passion for fishing and participated in many fishing tournaments. Kevin enjoyed taking care of his vehicles by detailing his trucks and boat. He was an outdoorsman and a member of the Mount Vernon Gun and Sportsmen Club. Above all he loved and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and will be greatly missed.
A Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 13, 2021, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois. A Funeral Service will begin at 12:00 pm. Interment will follow at Bethel Memorial Cemetery in Mount Vernon. Memorials may be made in Kevin’s honor to the McCrary family in the care of Janalynn York or Julia McCrary. Kevin is survived by his mother, Vivian McCrary; daughters, Janalynn York and husband, Jared of Mount Vernon, Illinois, Julia McCrary and boyfriend, Tevinn Petties of Mount Vernon, Illinois; fiancée, Elaine Klitzing of Altamont, Illinois; grandchildren, Henlsey and Larson York, Tevinn Petties, Jr., Vaelah Petties; and one grandchild on the way; siblings, Rose Bailey of Cobden, Illinois, Butch McCrary and wife, Kathy of Sparta, Illinois, Marleen Robinson of Oregon, Brenda Ruebke and husband, Brian of Percy, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews.
He was born July 10, 1963 in Carbondale, Illinois to Valley Vernell and Vivian (Melville) McCrary. Kevin married Karen (Richards) McCrary Sr. and she preceded him in death on May 28, 2000. Kevin was preceded in death by his father, Valley Vernell McCrary, Sr., and wife, Karen McCrary.
