Viola Mae Arnold, age 95, of Centralia, Illinois, passed away on Friday, June 18, 2021, at SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Centralia, Illinois. Mrs. Arnold was a member of the Sandoval Christian Church in Sandoval, Illinois. After her husband’s passing in 1998, she started attending First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Centralia, Illinois. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star in Centralia, Illinois. Mrs. Arnold enjoyed quilting and researching her family history. She was known to be a very sweet lady and she was not a stranger to anyone. She cherished the time she spent with her family, especially her grandkids and great grandkids. Family was important to her, especially after the passing of her mother, she taught herself how to cook and raised her younger brothers, from the age of 10. Mrs. Arnold was a housewife and homemaker, who worked alongside her husband on the family farm. Earlier in life, she was a seamstress with the Dress Factory in Centralia, Illinois, for 10 years. She lived in Centralia, Illinois, since 1954, and formerly lived in Sandoval, Illinois.
A Graveside Service for Mrs. Viola Mae Arnold will be held at 1:30 P.M. on Thursday, June 24, 2021, at Hillcrest Memorial Park near Centralia, Illinois with Reverend Paula Comper officiating. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park near Centralia, Illinois. Friends are invited to meet with Mrs. Arnold’s family from 11:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. at Moran Queen-Boggs Funeral Home in Centralia, Illinois. Memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Arnold’s memory to the Charity of Donor’s Choice and will be received at the Moran Queen-Boggs Funeral Home at 134 South Elm Street in Centralia, Illinois. Mrs. Arnold is survived by her sons, Mark Edward Arnold and wife Margie of Breese, Illinois and Lyle Ayer Arnold and wife Wanda of Irvington, Illinois; twin daughters, Darla Kay Arnold of Centralia, Illinois and Karla Rae Mendoza and husband Michael of Leesburg, Georgia; eleven grandchildren, Matthew Arnold and wife Amanda, Mitchell Arnold and wife Laura, Michael Arnold, Kim Hempen and husband David, Charlotte Koch, Jonette Lusch and husband Jacob, Robert Mendoza and wife Angela, Lindsey Mendoza, Regina Wyer and husband Eric, Patricia Muniz and husband Alex, and Jaclyn Mendoza; twelve great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Donna Gramlick of Centralia, Illinois, and Barb Gramlick of Indiana; and many nieces and nephews.
She was born on September 20, 1925, at home in Sandoval, Illinois, the daughter of Frank and Dena (Abel) Gramlick. She married Pete Arnold on August 21, 1954, at Sandoval Christian Church in Sandoval, Illinois, and he preceded her in death on February 20, 1998. In addition to her husband of 43 years, Mrs. Arnold was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Fred Gramlick, Roy A. Gramlick, Harold Gramlick, Howard Gramlick, and Gene Gramlick; and sisters, Anna Marie Currington and Minnie A. Walker.
