2021 06/19 – Robert Jackson Keplinger

Robert Jackson Keplinger, age 78 of Griffin, GA formerly of Salem, passed away on Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at the Coliseum Medical Center in Macon, GA. Robert served in the United States Navy as an Aviation Machinist Mate earning to the rank of Senior Chief. In 1987 he retired from the Navy after 27 years of service with distinction. He was a member of the Salem Presbyterian Church. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge, Shriners, Salem American Legion and the Salem Elks Club. He was affectionately known at “Kep” or Bob to all his friends and family, and “Peepa” to his grandchildren.

Graveside services for Robert Jackson Keplinger will be held on Saturday June 19, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at the Paradise Cemetery in Salem with Denise Burke officiating.  There will be military rites by the Salem American Legion. A celebration of life service will be held at the Presbyterian Church in Salem following the graveside services. In lieu of flowers; memorial contributions can be made to the Shriner’s Children’s Hospital , or Stand Up Placer https://www.standupplacer.org/stand-up/donate/ in Auburn, CA and can be left at the Crouse Funeral Home who is assisting the family with arrangements.

He married Nancy Kaye Cunningham on August 9, 1968 in San Jose, CA. Survivors include his wife, Nancy Keplinger of Griffin, GA; son, James G. Keplinger (Jenny Davidson) of Sacramento, CA; daughter, Anne Marie Peurifoy (Rob Peurifoy) of Griffin, GA; step daughter Jeanie Smart-Smith (Michael Smith) of Sacramento, CA; brother, Edward Keplinger of Woodbury, CT; and two sisters, Patsy Ann Thomas of Farina, IL and Mary Jane Barrow of Centralia, IL.

Robert was born on July 6, 1942 in Centralia, IL, the son of Gilbert and Georgia Ann (Rankin) Keplinger.
