Nancy Ann Berry, 71, of Centralia passed away Tuesday, June 8, 2021, at her home in Centralia. Nancy was a proud veteran of the United States Navy. She was a Third Order Carmelite, a Catholic religious order. She was blessed with leadership skills and was a caring Pre-K teacher during her working years. Nancy volunteered at the Shalom Food Pantry at the Sandoval United Methodist Church. She had a green thumb and always grew beautiful vegetable and flower gardens. She was an amazing baker, and everyone loved her bread, spread with her homemade strawberry jam. Nancy will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Day Macz Funeral Home in Sandoval is privileged to be assisting the family of Nancy Berry with arrangements. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 15, 2021, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Sandoval with Rev. Fr. Steven Pautler officiating. Interment will follow at St. Lawrence Catholic Cemetery in Sandoval. Friends are welcome from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass at the church to offer condolences to the family, where those in attendance will be asked to follow the CDC guidelines concerning those vaccinated, masks, and social distancing. Memorials may be made in Nancy’s honor to St. Judes Children’s Hospital. Along with her devoted husband of 42 years, survivors include her sons, William Christopher (Michelle) Berry of Denver, Colorado, and Daniel Phillip (Sarah) Berry of Centralia; grandchildren, Leo and Andrew Berry; brothers, Jim (Brigid) Nalewajka, and Jack (Ann) Nalewajka; and several nieces and nephews.
She was born at St. Mary’s Hospital in Centralia on September 21, 1949, the daughter of Leo and Jeanne Nalewajka of Junction City. She married David Berry on June 24, 1978, at Fort Benjamin Harrison, in Indianapolis, Indiana and he survives in Centralia. Nancy was preceded in death by both her parents.
