Gloria Roberta Skropka, 92, formerly of Dale, Illinois, passed away peacefully June 13, 2021 at her home in Centralia, Illinois. Gloria was a home maker and a long time Avon saleswoman. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandkids and great grandkids. She loved to sew, play cards and enjoyed reading. Gloria was Catholic by faith and was a faithful member of St. Clements Catholic Church in McLeansboro.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 15, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at the Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro with Pastor Brian Mixon officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1 p.m. with a Recitation of the Rosary recited during the service at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest at Prospect Cemetery near Dale, IL. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society and will be accepted at the Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro. Gloria is survived by two sons: William and wife Brenda Skropka of McLeansboro, IL and Vance Skropka of Dale, IL; three daughters: Ganice Skropka of O’Fallon, IL, Jane Crowder of Harrisburg, IL and Paula and husband Bryan Henderson of Centralia, IL; one brother Gerald Mayberry of Pawhuska, Ok, one sister Eldena Miner of New Brighton, MN; and one sister-in-law Thelwyn Mayberry of Oneota, AL. Eleven grandchildren and several great grandchildren also survive.
She was born September 18, 1928 in Royal Oak, Michigan to Paul and Jennie (Harrington) Mayberry. She married Henry Felix Skropka on August 24, 1957 and he preceded her in death. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son Darrell Eugene Skropka; and one brother Neal Mayberry.
