Charles D. Waggoner, 87, of Centralia, passed away Thursday, June 10, 2021 at his home. Charles served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He worked for AT&T for 35 years as a cable repairman. Charles was a member of the Corvette Club, where he also served as a Past President. He enjoyed going to car shows. He was of the Christian Faith. Charles cherished the time he spent with his grandson, family and friends.
A Private Family Service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Centralia American Legion Post 446, Centralia V.F.W. Post 2055, and St. Mary School in Centralia and will be accepted at the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home at 235 North Sycamore Street Centralia, Illinois 62801, (618)532-3523, who is honored to be of service to the Waggoner Family. He married Elvern Gettinger on September 4, 1965 and she survives in Centralia. In addition to his wife of 55 years, Elvern Waggoner of Centralia, he is also survived by his two children: Chuck Waggoner and wife Stephanie of Centralia and Lynn Ann Pigg and husband Steve of Centralia; a grandson: Carson Pigg of Centralia; three brothers-in-law: Gene Gettinger of Centralia, Larry Gettinger and wife Linda of Centralia and Mike Gettinger and wife Sonya of Centralia; several nieces and nephews.
He was born August 20, 1933 in Centralia, the son of Theodore Waggoner and Louise (Wiehe) Waggoner. Charles was preceded in death by his parents, a sister: LaDonne Kuhn, and a sister-in-law: Carol Gettinger.
