2021 05/13 – Barbara J. Ball

Barbara J. Ball, age 79 of Salem, passed away on Saturday, May 8, 2021, at Salem Township Hospital.

Barbara worked for many years as a beautician. She opened Barb’s Beauty Shop in 1964 and worked as a beautician up until she wasn’t able.  She was known for going to people’s homes and nursing homes to do hair and she volunteered a lot of her time. She enjoyed her calling as a hairdresser and enjoyed making people feel better.  Barb was also an avid Avon Sales Woman and was a member of the President’s Club.   She was a faithful member of the Salem First Christian Church.

Funeral services for Barbara J. Ball will be held on Thursday, May 13, 2021, at 10:30 a.m. at Crouse Funeral Home in Salem with Phil Martin officiating.  Burial will follow at East Lawn Cemetery.   There will be a visitation on Wednesday at the funeral home from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m.  Memorial contributions can be made to the Salem First Christian Church or Oil Belt Christian Service Camp and can be left at the funeral home.  Online condolences can be made at www.CrouseFH.com or on the funeral homes Facebook page.

Barbara was born on May 18, 1941, in Kinmundy, Illinois the daughter of Earl and Lottie (Perry) Lane.  She married James J. Ball on June 1, 1958, in Kinmundy, Illinois and he preceded her in death on February 3, 2001.

Survivors include her daughters, Janet Padberg and husband Bob of Salem, and Judy West and husband Tony of Kell; grandchildren, Amanda Barnes and husband Jeff, Andy Padberg and wife Tricia Jennifer Bilskie and husband Andy, and Ashley West and fiancé Shane Donoho; great-grandchildren, Aiden, Austin, Aubrey, Collin, and Kyndall.  She was also survived by her dog, Dutch.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, her daughter, Debbie Harvey, and son-in-law, Jack Harvey.
