Michael “Mike” Buettner, 68, of Centralia, passed away Wednesday, May 5, 2021 at his home. Mike worked at Egyptian Concrete for many years and for the past 10 years he has worked at South Central Transit. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and tinkering outdoors. Mike cherished the time he spent with his family, friends and his pets.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 11, 2021 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home in Centralia. A Private Family Service will be held at a later date. Mike married his High School Sweetheart, Nancy Estoppey, on July 29, 1971 and she survives in Centralia.
In addition to his wife of 49 years, Nancy Buettner of Centralia, he is also survived by his four children: Angie Coker and husband Michael of Centralia, Michelle Schulte and husband Justin of Centralia, Kevin Buettner and wife Hollie of Centralia, and Greg Buettner of St. Louis, Missouri; five grandchildren: Reagan Schulte, Abbey Coker, Maizey Schulte, Gemma Schulte, and Breez Buettner; a brother: Harold Buettner of Centralia; a sister: Shirley Brewer of Centralia; two brothers-in-law: Jeff Estoppey and wife Leticia of California and Mike Plassman of Centralia; two sisters-in-law: Sharon Blakey and husband Don of Texas and Linda Greer of Missouri; a special niece: Krystal Huelsmann and husband Steven of New Baden and their children: Noah and Laine; several nieces and nephews; and his mother-in-law: Nellis Estoppey of Centralia.
He was born June 15, 1952 in Marion County, the son of Clarence William Martin Buettner and Leona (Buehne) Buettner. Mike was preceded in death by his parents: Clarence and Leona Buettner, a sister: Beverly Plassman, father-in-law: Harold Estoppey, brother-in-law: Gene Brewer, two nephews: Danny Brewer and Karl Plassman, and his four legged companion: Elley.
