The Village of Sandoval has agreed to work with Hometown Heroes for an option on village-owned land for a craft grow cannabis facility.
The village board has a few 20-acre sites in mind, but right now ownership is in the name of the Sandoval Community Development Corporation. Mayor Pam Gelsinger promised to try and get a meeting of the corporation called in the next few days to see if some of the property might be available as a potential site for the grow facility.
Gelsinger says once a site is determined it will be brought back before the village board for action. The board was excited about the number of jobs and tax money the grow facility could provide.
If approved the site would be among those considered for 40 to 50 additional craft cannabis grow facilities expected to be licensed in the near future by the state.
Hometown Heroes has already secured a location in the Salem Industrial Park for another potential craft grow facility.
