The Centralia City Grade School Board has promoted Assistant Centralia Junior High Principal Jordon Queen to be the new principal.
Queen has been the assistant principal for the past four years and was a teacher at the junior high before that. Queen replaces current Principal Kimberly Emrick who is resigning at the end of the school year to become a principal in the West Washington School District in Okawville. Queen will be replaced as Assistant Principal by Elizabeth Hollenkamp who is in her 13th year as an 8th grade English teacher at Centralia Junior High.
The school board also accepted three other resignations. They include fifth-grade teacher Callie Jackson, Transportation Director Ken Easley, and bus driver Ricky Francois.
The board also had several other new hires for the coming school year. They are fifth-grade teachers Cedric Webster and Amber Roth, District HR Coordinator Alexis Appleby, and Penny Brooks as Individual Paraprofessional at Schiller.
A number of transfers were also approved. Traci Engel will move from kindergarten teacher to Schiller Instructional Support Teacher, Amanda Johnston from Fifth Grade Teacher to Fourth Grade Teacher, Tessa Reeves from 8th Grade History to Junior High Resource Teacher, Monica Wimberly from Junior High Resource Teacher to 6th Grade Geography Teacher, Tammy Heinrichsmeyer from Junior High Classroom Paraprofessional to 8th-grade history, Kelly Schwartz from 2nd-grade teacher at Jordan School to 8th grade English Language Arts at Centralia Junior High and Mia Debernardi from kindergarten teacher at Schiller to 2nd-grade teacher at Jordan School.
