Jefferson County Fire Protection District Firefighters fought an early morning grass fire Tuesday morning.
The fire was on the Matt Harris property in the 10,500 block of East Hutch Road southwest of Dix.
The fire apparently started from hot coal dumped out 12 hours earlier. The blaze was first reported by a motorist on the Interstate. At about the same time, Harris woke up to find the fire.
It covered about an acre and a half, but threatened no buildings and caused no damage.
The fire call came in at 6:22 Tuesday morning.
