The Patoka School Board has decided to start over on its search for a superintendent to replace the retiring David Rademacher.
The board had narrowed their field to two finalists last week and offered one the job, but it was declined.
The board will now advertise the position for two weeks with hopes of completing interviews and making a recommendation on the hiring of a new superintendent at the February board meeting.
Rademacher reported the state has awarded Patoka a matching $50,000 maintenance grant. He says the district will utilize the $100,000 to replace windows in the 1966 and 1980 additions that include the title/special ed/elementary library and band room. Four interior doors will also be replaced. Key fobs will be installed on up to seven doors. The security camera system will be expanded to allow for up to 16 more cameras.
The board approved spending $35,000 to purchase an accessible playground in the area of the current playground. Rademacher says the equipment will be available to kids throughout the year, not just on school days.
The board employed Robert ‘Vance’ Hendry and Kasey Spangenberg and subs for various positions in the district. Stephanie Bergher was hired as Pee Wee Cheer Coach and Nicole Cain as assistant Pee Wee Cheer Coach.
