The Salem Lady Wildcats return to Highland Tournament action this afternoon in the consolation quarterfinals against Belleville West after Salem fell in their opener to top seed Okawville 55-19. Alayna Kraus led the 2nd ranked Lady Rockets with 17 as they improve to 21-0. Briley Rhodes added 12 and Madisyn Wienstroer finished with 10. Salem was led by Katelyn Biegeleisen with 10. The Lady Cats tip against the Lady Maroons at 4pm.
Belleville dropped their opener to Triad 52-41. In other first round scores, TTown over Collinsville 59-24, O’Fallon beat Hillsboro 70-52, Civic Memorial 76-11 over Belleville East, Breese Central beat Nashville 43-37, Alton over Highland 59-36 and Mater Dei beat Taylorville 50-26.
After Salem-Belleville West today, Collinsville and Hillsboro will play in an elimination game at 5:30 followed by a pair of championship quarterfinals with Okawville and Triad at 7 and then TTown and O’Fallon at 8:30.
In other girls scores from Saturday, at the Little Illini Girls Conference Tournament, Marshall beat Lawrenceville 72-9, Olney 47-40 over Newton, Robinson beat Mt Carmel 50-30 and Paris over Red Hill by forfeit.
