A 32-year-old homeless Sandoval man has been arrested for arson and criminal damage to property in connection with a fire that heavily damaged a pickup truck last weekend.
Joey Evans is accused of throwing a lighted can of gasoline at the truck while it was parked in a parking lot in the 900 block of South Locust.
The engine compartment caught fire and was fully engulfed when firemen arrived. Firemen were able to stop the fire before it spread to the rest of the truck.
The investigation by Centralia Police and Fire along with the State Marshal’s office led to Evans as the suspect. He was taken into custody on Tuesday. Evans is being held in the Marion County Jail pending court action.
