2021 crop production numbers are in with Illinois posting some record breaking yields.
The state is the top producer of soybeans in the US says Crop Statistician Mark Schleusener.
“The soybean yield is estimated at a record high of 64 bushels per acre, up 4 from last year and steady with the November forecast. Total production of soybeans is also a new record at 673 million bushels, up 9% from a year ago.”
Schleusener says the estimated corn yield is 202 bushels per acre, up 11 bushels from 2020.
“This is the 2nd highest corn yield on record for Illinois. Total production of corn in the prairie state is estimated at 2.19 billion bushels. Up 3% from one year ago.”
Winter wheat production increased by 36%.
