Salem Fire Protection District Firemen say a suspicious fire was set in a small bag on the enclosed entryway of a condemned home late Wednesday night.
Fortunately, a neighbor to the home at 420 East Church spotted the fire before it could spread and called the fire department. They were able to put it out with an extinguisher.
The fire call came in at 10:15 Wednesday evening.
