The Salem Lady Cats dropped their Cahokia opener at home to Breese Central 58-35. Salem trailed by just 4 midway through the 3rd quarter, but turnovers cost Salem. They gave it away 34 times in the game. No Lady Cats was in double figures, but Alysia Keller finished with 9 points and 10 rebounds, Katelyn Beigeleisen finished with 8. Riley Jansen led the Lady Cougars with 19 with 10 each from Haley Ottenschnieder and Kaydence Schroeder. Salem is 1-5 on the year and will be back in action next Thursday when they head to Columbia.
The Centralia Orphan Annies opened up their home schedule with a 47-27 loss to visiting Mater Dei. The Annies were led by Rylee Edson with 13 and Jasaiyah Wallace finished with 8.
South Central nipped Webber 48-47 behind 20 points from Brooklyn Garrett. Laney Webster added 9.
