Nashville Falls In 2a State Title Game….Large Schools Play For Titles Today

The first day of the IHSA Football Championships was held on the campus of NIU in DeKalb.  Lena Winslow won the 1a title over Carrollton 38-25.  Nashville dropped their 2a championship game to Wilmington 24-7.  Byron is the 3a champs beating Tolono Unity 35-7 and in the final game of the day, Joliet Catholic won the 4a title over Sacred Heart Griffin 56-27.

The large schools will play today with Oak Park Fenwick and Kankakee opening the day with the 5a title game at 10am.  Cary Grove will look to knock off powerhouse East St Louis at 1 for the 6a title.  In the 7a game, Wheaton North takes on St Rita at 4pm.  The final game of the season will be for the 8a title featuring Lockport and Park Ridge Maine South at 7.
