The Salem Wildcats will tip off their season under new head coach Pete Colcasure with 4 games over the next 2 days starting with their opener of the Capital Classic from Lawrenceville tomorrow against Marshall. Tip off will be at 11:00. The Wildcats will play their night cap at 6pm against Fairfield. Toby Gullion will have both games for you on 100.1 FM and streaming at WJBDradio.com. The Wildcats will then have a quick turnaround Saturday when they return to Lawrenceville for their final pool play game against the hosts at 11:30 followed by a trophy game that night. Bill Hawley will have the call on Saturday.
The Lady Cats won’t return to action until Saturday when they finish up play in their 20th annual Thanksgiving Tournament. The Lady Cats are 0-3 heading into their finale with 1-2 Highland at 3pm. You can listen to that game on 100.1 FM and streaming as well. The opening game of the day will feature unbeaten TTown taking on 2-1 Carterville which could determine the tournament champion. That game starts the day Saturday at 1:30. After Salem plays at 3pm they will honor the All Tournament Team before the finale game with TTown and Centralia. The Annies are 2-1 in tournament play and 3 overall on the season.
Also tomorrow in boys tournament action at Wesclin, Staunton plays Columbia followed by Nashville and Wesclin.
At Mulberry Grove, Patoka/Odin plays Ramsey, McGivney takes on CHBC and Mulberry Grove plays St Elmo/Brownstown.
Sandoval will play in the Elverado Semifinal against the JV from DuQuoin.
At St Anthony Friday, Robinson takes on Breese Central, TTown against Mattoon, Rantoul plays Highland and St Anthony will take on Effingham.
Three trophy games will be played at the Metro East Lutheran Tournament that will involve Mater Dei, Mt Vernon, and Christ Our Rock.
At Waterloo, Litchfield plays Valmeyer and Gibault takes on Waterloo.
Also this weekend on Saturday will begin the Carlyle Kaskaskian Classic with Hillsboro playing Woodlawn, Pinckneyville plays Okawville, Nokomis takes on Greenville and Carlyle plays Flora.
The Fighting Illini return to basketball action Friday night when they play UT Rio Grande starting at 7pm on WSIQ. The Illini football team will finish up their season on the Q Saturday morning at 10 against Northwestern.
