RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — Brendan Smith scored his first goal of the season with 2:57 remaining as the Carolina Hurricanes beat the St. Louis Blues 3-2. Brady Skjei and Sebastian Aho also scored for the Hurricanes, who avoided a second straight loss after holding a lead in third period. Andrei Svechnikov and Tony DeAngelo both had two assists. Alex Lyon had 27 saves in his Carolina debut. Pavel Buchnevich and Vladimir Tarasenko scored for the Blues. Joel Hofer, playing in his second NHL game, had 21 saves.

Elsewhere in the NHL:

— Brayden Point scored a backhand breakaway goal in overtime to give the Tampa Bay Lightning a 3-2 win over Florida Panthers 3-2. Pat Maroon and Victor Hedman scored for the Lightning, while Andrei Vasilevskiy made 26 saves. The Panthers have a four-game winless streak (0-2-2) since starting the season 10-0-1.

— Rem Pitlick scored his first NHL goal, then added two more as the Minnesota Wild beat the Seattle Kraken 4-2. Pitlick came into the game with four assists in 15 career games and became the 31st player in NHL history to get a hat trick in the same game as scoring his first goal.

— Morgan Rielly scored with 12 seconds remaining to give the Toronto Maple Leafs a 5-4 victory over the Buffalo Sabres. Reilly’s winner came after the Leafs squandered a two-goal, third-period lead.

— The New York Rangers beat the Columbus Blue Jackets 5-3. Artemi Panarin and Chris Kreider each scored twice.

— The Dallas Stars earned their first win in regulation this season with a 5-2 victory over the Flyers. Roope Hintz and Luke Glendening each had a goal and an assist.

— Mark Scheifele scored 32 seconds into overtime to give the Winnipeg Jets a 3-2 victory over the Los Angeles Kings. Kyle Connor and Dylan DeMelo also scored for the Jets, and Connor Hellebuyck stopped 27 shots.

— Dylan Larkin scored two goals, including the game-winner in overtime to give the Detroit Red Wings a 3-2 win over the Montreal Canadiens. Larkin has seven goals already this season and hit 300 career points.

— The Ottawa Senators snapped a four-game losing streak with a 6-3 victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins. Drake Batherson had two goals and two assists for the Sens.

— Roman Josi had two goals and two assists to lead the Nashville Predators to a 4-1 victory over the Arizona Coyotes. Matt Duchene and Mikael Granlund also scored for Nashville.

— Evgenii Dadonov and Jonathan Marchessault each scored twice and the Vegas Golden Knights beat the Vancouver Canucks 7-4. Marchessault’s 100th goal as a Golden Knight proved to be the game winner.

— The Colorado Avalanche overcame a slow start to beat the San Jose Sharks 6-2. Sam Girard led the way with a goal and three assists.

— Brad Marchard scored twice and Jeremy Swayman made 27 saves as the Boston Bruins beat New Jersey 5-2. Erik Haula (HAW’-lah), Patrice Bergeron (pah-TREES’ BEHR’-zhehr-ahn), and Jake DeBrusk also scored as the Bruins ended the Devils’ three-game winning streak.
