By WJBD Staff Nov 8, 2021 | 7:01 AM

The Christ Our Rock girls cross country team made history becoming just the 2nd girls team of any kind to reach the state series as they ran at Detweiller Park over the weekend.  They were 30th as a team with Kylie Eversgerd 103rd, Sarah McKowen 136, Rylee Brammeier 138, Kylie Nalewajka 196, Abigail Meyer 198 and Mireya Rose 206.

1st year coach Tim Koch posted a message to his team that read….

“I am proud of these girls and this team. We may have finished 30th place today but it was an honor to represent our school, families, and supporters today at The State Cross Country Meet in Peoria. 105 other class 1A girls teams did not get the opportunity to make it to State this year! We got to experience being a State team and running at The State Cross Country Meet and we will continue to build our program and get back here again! Thank you to my girls for giving their all! I’ve enjoyed coaching you all this season. You are a great team! And this is a season I will never forget! We made school history! You all were only the 2nd girls team at CORLHS to make it to an IHSA State series in any sport! Thank you to our school, our AD, principal, our amazing parents and all who have been behind this team all season during this incredible journey! Only great teams make it to Detweiller! You all are a great team!”
