Marion County Health Department reporting two more COVID-19 related deaths

The Marion County Health Department is reporting two more COVID-19 related deaths during the past four days.  The Jefferson County Health Department has one additional death recorded over the weekend.

Marion County Health Department Administrator Melissa Mallow says those who passed away were a male in his 40s and a female in her 90s.  Both were unvaccinated and were not long-term care residents.   The county’s death toll since the pandemic began is now 151.

There have also been 28 new cases in the past four days Saturday through Tuesday.  Two were fully vaccinated.   Of the new cases, 12 are school age and three are four years old or younger.  Sixteen of the cases are considered community spread and 12 are the result of spread from household or close contacts.

There are now 383 active cases of COVID-19 in Marion County.  37 of those are in the hospital, including six who are on ventilators.  The age breakdown for those in the hospital are two in their 80s, four in their 70s, 13 in their 60s, 11 in their 50s, four in their 40s, two in their 30s, and one under three months.

Jefferson County is reporting one new COVID-19 related death, a male in his 70s who was not vaccinated.  There have now been 143 COVID-19 related deaths in Jefferson County since the pandemic began.  Jefferson County is reporting  27 new COVID-19 cases during the past four days.   There are currently 42 in isolation.

Washington County is reporting five new cases Friday through Monday.

Fayette County is reporting 48 new cases last week ending Friday and no deaths.
