Governor JB Pritzker says he’s hopeful the state’s indoor mask mandate can be lifted in time for the holidays.
The daily new case rate has been falling in recent weeks, as have hospitalizations. The Governor says this may lead to nixing “certain mask mandates.”
“We like very much to head into, you know we have 3 holidays coming up, but especially Thanksgiving and Christmas where people spend extended time together we would like to get to a point where we get rid of some of the mandates.”
According to the latest daily data, there are 2,071 new cases and 21 additional deaths. As of Monday night, there were about 1400 Illinois Covid patients in the hospital.
63.4% of Illinoisans age 12 and up are now fully vaccinated.
