Both Clinton and Jefferson Counties reporting additional COVID-19 deaths; Marion County 58 new cases

Both the Clinton and Jefferson County Health Departments are reporting additional COVID-19 related deaths.   Clinton County’s 102nd death was a man in his 70s and is included in their weekly report from October 9th through the 15th.  Jefferson County is reporting its 142nd death during the pandemic, also a man in his 70s.

The Marion County Health Department reports no additional deaths, but 58 new cases on Thursday and Friday.   17 were fully vaccinated.  There are now 756 active cases, including 35 who are hospitalized and five of those on ventilators.  The health department reports of those in the hospital two are in their 80s, three in their 70s, 13 in their 60s, ten in their 50s, five in their 40s, and two in their 30s.

Of the 58 new cases, six are school age, five are four years old and younger.  On the upper end, were two males in their 80s and five in their 70s.  47 of the cases are considered community spread and 11 from household or close contacts.   There were 103 released from isolation on Friday.

Clinton County is reporting 78 new cases in the week ending Friday with 89 cases remaining active.

Jefferson County had 38 new cases on Thursday and Friday, with 100 currently on isolation.

Statewide, there were 15,669 new cases in the week ending on Friday with 184 new deaths.  The statewide positivity rate is at two percent.   69-percent of Illinoisans have received at least one dose of vaccine and 54-percent are fully vaccinated.
