Despite not having #3 runner Rylee Brammeier who was out today due to illness The Christ Our Rock Silver Stallions Lady’s Varsity Cross Country team still ran strong placing 2 girls in the Top 10 and finishing 8th place overall at The Pinckneyville CC Inv.
The scoring was very tight with DuQuoin winning the Varsity Girls race with 63 points followed by Pinckneyville with 65, Carterville with 133, Hamilton Co. with 145, Murphysboro with 151, Breese Central with 159, Okawville 160, Christ Our Rock 161, Nashville 186 and Sparta 192. Chester, Steeleville and Red Bud did not have team scores.
Had Brammeier been able to run and finished 34th or better The Lady Stallions would have placed 3rd. So no reason to panic other than just getting her back and healthy and in the mix.
Sarah McKowen finished 6th receiving a T-shirt as well as teammate Kylie Eversgerd finishing 9th and also grabbing a Tshirt as no medals were given out. The Top 20 girls received shirts. Abagail Meyer was 38th, Kylie Nalewajka 45th, and Mireya Rose 63rd rounding out the scoring for The Lady Stallions tonight.
Sarah Mckowen-20:51 6th
Kylie Eversgerd-21:31 9th
Abagail Meyer- 24:42 38th
Kylie Nalewajka-25:20 45th
Mireya Rose-28:08 63rd
The future looks bright for this young group of CORLHS Silver Stallions Cross Country Runners! Tonight they won the Pickneyville Freshman/Soph (JV) race at the Pickneyville CC Inv.
The Stallions compiled of 5 freshman and 1 sophomore beat 9 teams, scoring 54 points to grab the win over Hamilton County with 95 and Carterville with 100!
Isiah Lyons lead the way for the Stallions finishing 5th place, followed by Elijah Gregory in 7th, Zerek Koch in 8th and Christian Nollman in 13th. All recieved T-shirts (considered medalist) in the meet! Thomas Taylor continues to improve his time and position each race and rounded out the scoring for the Stallions in 21st. Colt Suedemeyer also continues to run a strong #6 for the Stallions and finished 30th. Had Colt been the #5 runner the Stallions still would have won the meet!
I’m very proud of this young team and I think in a few years they have a serious shot at making an appearance at the 1A state CC meet. Only time will tell but for now they are running very well despite being a very youthful team as far as Cross Country goes!
