A 58-year-old Wamac man has been arrested on outstanding Marion and Washington County warrants.  Shawn Cavins of South Brookside was taken into custody by Wamac Police and transported to the Marion County Jail.   Cavins is wanted in Marion County on a pending felony domestic battery charge filed in 2006.   The bond on the warrant is set at $25,000.    The Washington County warrant is in connection with failure to appear in court on a 2006 misdemeanor domestic battery conviction.  Bond in that case is set at $2,000.

Salem Police say an attempt to steal a catalytic converter from a truck parked at the NAPA parking lot on West Main Street sometime late Tuesday night or early Wednesday morning was unsuccessful.    Police report no attempt was made to enter the building.  The investigation is continuing.

Salem Firemen were called to an electric pole on fire across the road from the 300 block of Kell Street Wednesday afternoon.   Tri-County Electric was able to extinguish the fire at the top of the pole after cutting off power.
