A 45-year-old Alma man has pleaded guilty to federal drug and weapon charges.

John Doyle of the 4500 block of Kinoka Road admitted to three counts of distribution of a controlled substance, possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance, and being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Federal court records indicate Doyle knowingly and intentionally distributed a mixture and substance containing a detectable amount of methamphetamine.  He was also charged with possessing a Kimber Micro 9 firearm with an aftermarket trigger with a domestic battery conviction in Fayette County.

Doyle was arrested in October of last year after the South Eastern Illinois Drug Task Force with help from the Marion County Sheriff’s Department and the US Marshals Task Force executed a search warrant on his home.  The gun, ammunition and controlled substances were reportedly recovered.
