The Salem City Council Monday night gave final approval to an ordinance that will allow boat docks on the Salem Reservoir to remain and be upgraded.
City Manager Rex Barbee says the city gets some control over them.
“We are grandfathering in those property owners’ docs, but this allows the city to have a tool in the works as for as mandating repairs be made if it falls into disrepair and giving them ample notice for that.”
The issue came up as part of the sale of one of the eight or nine properties that have a dock on the Salem Reservoir.
The council also approved Gonzales and Company to oversee the motor fuel tax summer maintenance program next year.
Mayor Nic Farley commended the Little Egypt Festival and the Salem Historical Society on successful weekend events. Several councilmen also added their congratulations.
