Illinois State Police Division of Criminal Investigation report two people have been taken into custody in connection with the death investigation and suspected home invasion of an 80-year-old rural Edgewood man in northwest Clay County.
The names of those being held have not been released as the Clay County States Attorney’s Office is reviewing the case and formal charges are expected. A Clay County Judge has found probable cause to detain the two men.
The two suspects were taken into custody on September 30th following a tip from the public to the Effingham City Police Department Crime Stoppers.
DCI is being assisted in the open and ongoing investigation by the Clay and Marion County Sheriff’s Departments as well as Centralia Police.
