The Marion County Health Department is reporting 77 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday.
Health Department Administrator Melissa Mallow says 16 were fully vaccinated. Unlike most recent days where a large number of cases have been in school-age children, only one of the cases reported Friday fit in that category. None were long-term care residents. Cases were mostly spread from those in their 20s to 80s. The department considers 67 of the cases as community spread and ten spread from household or close contacts.
There are now 728 active cases in Marion County. 33 of those are in the hospital, including four on ventilators. Of those in the hospital two are in their 30s, five in their 40s, ten in their 50s, 11 in their 60s, three in their 70s, and two in their 80s.
