Mt. Vernon Police has identified the victim of a fatal stabbing at his home Tuesday night as 47-year-old Chad James.
Police earlier announced they have arrested 31-year-old Quencie Favors of Mt. Vernon for first-degree murder in connection with the incident that occurred at James’ home.
James was found unconscious and bleeding at a home in the 400 block of South 20th Street by Mt. Vernon Police and Fire and Litton’s Ambulance when they arrived at the scene. James was later transferred to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead from his injuries.
Favors was still inside James’ home when emergency help arrived. She was taken into custody without incident and was taken to the Jefferson County Jail to await further court action.
Jefferson County Coroner Roger Hayse says an autopsy will be conducted on James’ body on Friday morning.
