Illinois State Police Division of Criminal Investigation has been called in to assist the Clay County Sheriff’s Office with a death investigation and suspected home invasion.
State officials say 80-year-old Roger Courson was found deceased in his home near Edgewood by a family member at approximately 11 Sunday morning.
The investigation has determined that a safe, multiple firearms, and a television were taken from the Courson residence. The cause and manner of death are pending.
The investigation is being led by the ISP Division of Criminal Investigation in Effingham. Anyone with information is asked to call (217) 342-7861.
