The weekly CDC COVID-19 tracker is showing a decline in the number of new COVID-19 cases in the week ending Friday in all area counties except Wayne County.
In Marion County, 205 new cases were reported, down six percent from the prior week. The infection rate is 551 per 100,000, five and a half times the level above the start of the high level. There were 19 new hospital admissions last week, a five-percent decline. The CDC lists 35.3-percent of Marion County residents fully vaccinated from COVID-19.
In Jefferson County, 182 new cases were recorded, a 15-percent drop. The rate of infection is at 483 per 100,000. There were 16 new hospital admissions.
In Clay County, 90 new cases were recorded, a 4-percent drop. The rate of infection is at 240 per 100,000. There were no new hospital admissions.
In Washington County, 38 new cases were reported, a 31-percent drop. The rate of infection is 274 per 100,000. There were no new hospitalizations.
In Wayne County, 135 new cases were reported, a nine percent increase. The rate of infection is 833 per 100,000 people. There were eight new hospitalizations.
In Fayette County, 105 new cases were reported, a 37-percent decline. The rate of infection is 492 per 100,000 people. There were ten new hospitalizations.
