A head-on crash on Illinois Route 33 just east of Effingham has resulted in the death of two Shumway residents.
Illinois State Police say 82-year-old Ronald Kyle was traveling westbound on Illinois Route 33 when for an unknown reason he crossed the centerline into the westbound lane and hit a pickup truck driven by 36-year-old Ryan Wendt of Effingham.
Both Ronald Kyle and 81-year-old Sally Kyle of Shumway were pronounced deceased on the scene.
Wendt was airlifted to a regional hospital with serious injuries.
The crash occurred at 2:59 Wednesday afternoon.
