Salem Police Chief Sean Reynolds says several counterfeit bills have been passed in the city in August.
He reports the counterfeit bills have been in the $20 and $100 denominations.
The bills have shown up at various locations in town. The bills all possess different serial numbers.
Reynolds reports some are rather noticeable due to the texture of paper, color, and centering. Others are not as easily distinguished.
The chief is requesting that you inspect bills upon receipt and contact the police department if you suspect you have been given a fraudulent bill.
